The experienced centre-back is currently without a club following his release from Panathinaikos this summer, and is maintaining his fitness with Steve Bruce’s men.

Samba has a vast pedigree in the game, having played for several clubs during his career so far, so his experience in the camp could come in handy.
The former Congo international flew out with the squad to Portugal to take part in the club’s training camp for the opening stage of pre-season, and he’ll be hoping to make an impact during his stint with Villa.
Samba was not the only experienced defender to have joined up with the squad yesterday, as John Terry got straight into the action off the back of his signing.
