Villa reportedly activated a release clause in Elmohamady’s contract which means this is now the third time that Steve Bruce has signed the Egyptian, after taking him to Sunderland and Hull, respectively.
Bruce’s side have been very active in the transfer window this summer, adding Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and former Chelsea captain John Terry to their ranks, as they bid to gain promotion back to the top-flight next season.
Villa fans can feel very confident going into the new season, with their new-look defence starting to take shape, with Terry and Elmohamady slotting in nicely to try and tighten things up at the back.
Elmohamady made 37 appearances for Hull City last season as they were relegated to the Championship.
