Aston Villa centre-back Tommy Elphick is wanted by second-city rivals Birmingham City, according to The Mirror.
City boss Harry Redknapp signed a new deal after keeping the Blues in the Championship and was promised funds by the clubs owners.
He is now chasing Villa’s Elphick, who will tighten up his defence as Birmingham hope to remain in the second-tier next season.

Tommy Elphick, previously of Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth, has seemingly fallen out of favour at Villa Park, with relegated top-flight side Sunderland also keen on the 29-year-old defender.
The Englishman played 26 times for Villa last season, as Steve Bruce’s side finished 13th in the Championship.
Elphick’s position at the Midlands club has become increasingly more under threat, with the arrival of Chelsea legend John Terry appearing to signal the end of the road for former Brighton & Hove Albion man, as the prospect of him switching city allegiances draws ever closer.
