Irishman Kevin Toner has gone back to his native land to sign for St Patricks Athletic on a two-year deal bringing an end to his stay at Aston Villa.
The 21-year-old joined Aston Villa as a youth back in 2012 and made a handful of first-team appearances near the end of Villa’s last spell in the Premier Leauge during the 2015/16 season.
Sadly for Toner, first-team appearances were hard to come by and he found himself falling further and further down the pecking order at Villa Park with many senior players above him and youngsters like Easah Suliman, who started every game as England Under 19s won the UEFA European championships, starting to break out.
During his time at Villa, he has had loan spells at various clubs including Wallsal and Bradford City last season and Stevenage this season; which has been cut short to complete his move back to Ireland.

Toner’s contract at Villa Park was set to expire at the end of the season and his move to St Patricks Athletic brings an early end to his spell with Aston Vila.
