Sam Johnstone ready to quit Man Utd

Sam Johnstone is reportedly ready to quit Manchester United at the end of the season as he looks for a permanent transfer away from Old Trafford, according to The Burton Mail.

This is as he sees no way in which he can challenge David de Gea, and he wishes to have more game time, which could be at Aston Villa.

Johnstone has been on loan at Villa Park all of this current season and the second half of last season.

Due to Villa being in trouble with Financial Fair Play, Villa would need to gain promotion to be able to fund the permanent transfers of loan signing such as Johnstone, along with Robert Snodgrass and Lewis Grabban.

Johnstone, who has been magnificent in helping Villa get to where they are, within five points of automatic promotion and comfortably in the Play-Offs, has said in a recent interview (via Burton Mail):

He (de Gea) is the best goalkeeper in the world.

At United I would watch him every day. He’s not much older than me but you just pick things up from him.

I’ve been there since I was 10-years-old but I was happy to play last year for Villa and get a full season this year.

Hopefully I will do my job properly, help the club get promoted and see what happens.
