Aston Villa could owe John Terry over £560,000 if the player remains a free agent or retires this Summer, according to the Times.
Terry left Villa in May, after failing to agree on a new contract with the club with Villa’s financial problems worsening after the playoff final defeat.
However, Villa will still have to pay Terry severance pay if he is not immediately signed on the expiry of his contract.

The Times report that Terry would be due another £560,000 due to a clause put in place by the PFA, that states that a club will owe the player a months wages if they are not signed after the expiration of their contract.
This means Villa could owe Terry another £260,000 as well as his wages for June, despite the player leaving the club in May.
Villa are open to investment, with Tony Xia now able to create more shares to sell on to try and fix their financial problems.
