Belgium assistant manager Thierry Henry has emerged as a shock candidate to replace Steve Bruce as Aston Villa manager, according to MirrorFootball.
The Villans were injected with new capital investment on Friday afternoon by billionaire businessmen Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, who purchased 55% of Dr. Tony Xia’s shares in the club.
Reports had suggested that the duo were interested in exploring other managerial options, and could be set to sack Bruce, despite the former Northern Ireland international’s intention to remain loyal to the Midlands club.

MirrorFootball claim that Henry could be the duo’s preferred option, with the Frenchman having quit his Sky Sports pundit role at the beginning of the week to focus on his long-term ambition of becoming a manager.
Henry recently assisted Roberto Martínez in Belgium’s third place finish at the 2018 World Cup.
Bruce is preparing his side for Saturday’s friendly tie to League One side Burton Albion, but his and his staff’s futures are now firmly up in the air.
