Aston Villa are set to keep hold of James Chester this summer despite interest from Stoke City.
Several members of the Villa first-team squad have been linked with exits from the club but following the recently-finalised takeover, Steve Bruce and the club’s hierarchy are under less pressure to sell prized assets.
Chester appeared to be one of many who would be on the move this summer, with Stoke making significant efforts to recruit him ahead of their promotion push in the upcoming season.

However, according to PA Sport, as cited by the Daily Mail, the Welsh international is prepared to snub interest from the Potters as he looks to help Villa back to the Premier League.
Stoke were reportedly prepared to cough up a figure of £10 million for Chester, who impressed at the back for Villa last term.
However, the central defender is evidently focused on the task at hand and will continue to prepare for the 2018/19 season under Bruce with Aston Villa.
