According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa look set to miss out on Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn as he is having a medical at Bramall Lane today to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan.
Following Villa’s new takeover, the EFL have lifted Villa’s transfer embargo, and now Bruce is on the hunt for some loan deals to improve his squad before the transfer window slams shut on the 9th of August.
Bruce was extremely keen on bringing Woodburn to Villa Park, but it is believed that Jurgen Klopp convinced the 18-year-old to join Sheffield United instead as he was concerned about how much game time he would actually get playing for Villa.
Klopp rates Woodburn highly, but at this stage in his career it is very unlikely that he will get much game time at Anfield next season. Therefore, it’s best if he goes out on loan and gets some much needed experience in senior football. However, unfortunately for Bruce, it doesn’t look like it will be at Villa Park.
