Steve Bruce’s side were believed to have been on the lookout for a new central defender before the loan window slammed shut for EFL clubs on Friday evening at 5 PM.
Villa had expressed an interest in signing Harold Moukoudi from Ligue 2 outfit Le Havre. However, they failed to push a deal over the line, leading them to seek other defensive alternatives.

It appears as though a loan deal for McKenna was sounded out by Villa but their efforts were unsuccessful, with Aberdeen understandably keen to retain the services of their star defender.
McKenna is held in high esteem in the Scottish Premiership and had emerged as a target for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers earlier on in the summer transfer window.
Aberdeen, though, remained firm in their stance and refused any proposals for the 21-year-old.
