Former Aston Villa and Chelsea defender John Terry is believed to be close to joining Portuguese outfit Sporting.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, a deal to bring Terry to the club is nearing its conclusion.
The former England defender has been heavily linked with a return to Villa Park after leaving over the summer, but it appears that his next move looks set to take him to Portugal.
Terry is believed to be able to speak some Portuguese, with the country a regular location for his family holidays in the past.

Sporting presidential candidate Madeira Rodrigues has hinted that Terry could be one of three players set to join the club.
I’m very close to introducing players to enter Sporting, and if I wanted to present three players today I just do not announce today because I can not go beyond a certain limit It was very easy to present the three players now, but I’m negotiating with the penny.
They are foreigners, a left-back, a spearhead and a great champion, a man for the spa, like Peter Schmeichel, who have no contract, unfortunately we lost Marchisio, he would be a Sporting player if I was president last week.
Terry became a fan favourite during his time at the club, helping Steve Bruce’s side reach the play-off final.
A new contract was ruled out over the summer because of the financial strains that were placed upon Villa before their latest takeover.
