Aston Villa took on Blackburn in the Championship on Saturday evening and left Ewood Park with a point thanks to a stunning late free-kick by Conor Hourihane.
The away side were staring down the barrel of a third straight defeat thanks to Bradley Dack’s opener in the 75th minute, which, it has to be said, came completely against the run of play.
With 93 minutes on the clock, Grealish drew a silly foul out of Harrison Reed around 20 metres from the goal. It was now or never for Villa and Hourihane was given the task of salvaging something for Villa, and boy did he do that. He stepped up and curled a sumptuous free-kick around the wall, giving David Raya no chance.
Bruce owes the Irishman a beer or two tonight as that goal might have just helped to save his job.
