The favourite for the Aston Villa job, Dean Smith, has dismissed links to the job as just “speculation”.
According to the Express and Star, the former Walsall boss is being touted up as one of the favourites for the Villa job, especially as Smith was a boyhood supporter of the Villans.

However, speaking on Thursday ahead of Brentford’s clash with Leeds United on Saturday, Smith dismissed links to Villa Park, and stated he is happy at the Bees.
There’s going to be speculation about many people,” said Smith. “They put two and two together and come up with five. My job is Brentford and that’s all I am interested in.
There’s always going to be speculation; my dad was a steward and I was brought up a Villa fan but I’m not sure they are going to give Prince William the job are they?
I’ve said it many times; this is a fantastic job and I enjoy it here. There’s nothing that has made me change my mind since I have worked here. I have no plans on leaving this club because it is a great club to work for.
Smith has been touted as one of the favourites mainly due to his past love of Villa. Smith managed Walsall before joining Brentford, and the Bees currently sit 6th in the Championship table.
Other names being linked with the job include Thierry Henry, who was linked with the job in August before the club backed Steve Bruce for the role.
