Aston Villa look set to miss out on the appointment of Thierry Henry, with AS Monaco closing in on a deal to make the former Arsenal star their new manager.
Following the dismissal of Steve Bruce last week, the Championship club are on the lookout for a new first-team manager and were believed to have lined up Henry as a target.
Villa reportedly held preliminary negotiations with Henry, who is still the assistant manager of Belgium’s national team.

However, following the latest developments surrounding Leonardo Jardim’s expected departure from Monaco, it seems Henry has been lined up for a return to his homeland.
According to RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi, as cited by GFFN on Twitter, Henry is now in ‘advanced talks’ over a deal to take over from Jardim in the hot-seat at Monaco.

Aston Villa will now be forced to look elsewhere for their Bruce replacement, with former player John Terry being strongly linked with the managerial post at Villa Park.
