Aston Villa manager Dean Smith wants to land Sheffield Wednesday star Barry Bannan, according to a report from the Mirror.
It’s believed that new Villa boss Smith is a long-term admirer of Bannan’s talents and is keen to make him his first signing at the club in the January transfer window.
Bannan has enjoyed a strong start to the season with Sheffield Wednesday and has earned plaudits from many.

It seems the Scotland international’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed, either, with the Mirror indicating that Villa could make a £8 million move to re-sign their former midfielder.
Smith is claimed to be keen on adding fresh impetus to Villa’s current pool of midfield options as he looks to turn the club’s slow start to the Championship season around.
Bannan is a key player for Sheffield Wednesday and it’s unlikely that the Owls would be keen to cash-in on him in January. However, with a reported offer of £8m being prepared, Villa are evidently keen to test Wednesday’s resolve.
