Birkir Bjarnason suffers groin injury

Aston Villa have confirmed that midfielder Birkir Bjarnason will miss Friday night’s clash against Bolton Wanderers.

The Icelandic international midfielder has picked up a groin issue which means he’ll miss the game at Villa Park on Friday evening.

However, there is some good news for manager Dean Smith as Albert Adomah has  returned to full training after recovering from a knee injury and he will be available for selection against the side who sit just two places below the Villans in the Championship table.

Villa are currently sat in 17th place but such is the competitiveness of the Championship, they’re only seven points behind fifth-placed West Brom.

Smith will be keen to get Villa on a winning run to help propell his side up the table and back into a potential promotion race.

However, Bolton can leapfrog Villa if they pull off an upset on Friday, so there’s a lot riding on the game.
