Aston Villa have been dealt a transfer blow with reported target Joe Rodon having signed a new deal with Swansea City.
The Wales Under-21 international had been linked with a move to the Villans, after impressing so far this season for the Swans.
Villa have just James Chester and Axel Tuanzebe as the only natural centre- backs in their squad, and new boss Dean Smith is keen to strengthen in that position in January.
However he will now be forced to look elsewhere, with Rodon having put pen to paper on a new four-year deal.
The 21-year old claimed to have been aware of transfer speculation linking him with a move to Villa Park, but the former Cheltenham Town loanee thought that staying in South Wales would be the best option for his career.
