Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has admitted that he is helpless to stop Jed Steer returning to Aston Villa in January if Dean Smith decides to recall the keeper.
Steer joined Charlton on loan after Villa brought in more reinforcements in goal, leaving Steer out in the cold.
However, Steer has established himself as the Addicks number one since joining, amid problems with Villa’s new signings in goal.

Bowyer admitted that Villa could recall their man this January, telling London News Online that Charlton would be helpless to stop them.
There’s a possibly that he could get recalled,” said Bowyer. “That’s out of our hands, we can’t control that.
But we’ll try to persuade them to let him stay, but it is nothing we can control.
Villa signed Orjan Nyland and Andre Moreira at the end of the Summer window, but neither Goalkeeper has impressed since joining.
Steer could return to Villa, as they look to get a consistent number one between the sticks.
