Aston Villa are keen on a deal for Croatia goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic, three years after initially missing out on his signature, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The 28-year-old Croatia international is a key target for Villa in the January transfer window as they look to try an sign a new goalkeeper.
Kalinic is currently on the books at Belgian side Gent and has been linked with moves to Tottenham and Crystal Palace in recent times.
However, it is believes that talks with Villa have already begun and a deal could be done early in the window.
Villa originally made a move for Kalinic back in 2016, however he was denied a work permit for the UK.
But now that Kalinic is a full Croatian international and played in the summer’s World Cup, he would not need a work permit.
Villa’s current No.1 Orjan Nyland has struggled since signing for Villa and the club are now keen to improve their options between the sticks.
Mark Bunn is currently Villa’s second choice keeper, whilst Andre Moreira – on loan from Atletico Madrid – hasn’t even made it into Dean Smith’s matchday 18 for any of their Championship fixtures.
