Aston Villa are close to signing Levante midfielder Cheick Doukoure, report the Sunday Mirror.
The Villains are set to bring in the 26-year-old on loan, as Dean Smith looks to boost his side’s promotion push.
Doukoure’s agent was in Birmingham over the weekend to discuss a deal, as both sides aim to agree terms.
With just one win in their last five outings, Villa’s lack of squad depth is starting to become exposed.

The relentless run of fixtures is always a test of a team’s resources and Smith’s men are showing signs of flagging.
Doukoure would be an exciting capture should the transfer be completed, with the Levante man winning 20 caps for the Ivory Coast since his debut in 2015.
Rayo Vallecano have also expressed an interest in signing him, but Villa looks set to be his next destination.
A holding midfielder with plenty of physical attributes, Doukoure would provide stiff competition in the middle of the park.
