Aston Villa are among the teams scouting ex-Inter Milan striker Mohamed Belkheir.
According to reports in France from Foot Mercato, Villa are joined by Caen, Amiens and Strasbourg in keeping tabs on the player.
Villa’s transfer search has seen them look far and wide as they bid to give Dean Smith the necessary tools he needs to secure promotion to the Premier League.
Belkheir only left the San Siro over the summer, joining Brescia to get some senior game time under his belt.
Brescia saw off a lot of competition around Europe to secure the player’s services after it became clear he would be leaving Inter.
Now a number of top-flight French clubs and Villa themselves are taking note.
While the report does not specify who exactly, Foot Mercato claim that some of the clubs in question have enquired about the player’s availability in January.
With concerns over the immediate future of Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham, Villa may be forced into the market for a striker this month if Chelsea decide to take up their recall option.
