Kodjia could leave Aston Villa for Angers

Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia could join Ligue 1 side Angers, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Kodjia has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth at Villa Park this season, despite scoring six goals in 28 appearances.

The form of on-loan striker Tammy Abraham is a big reason for that, with Dean Smith struggling to justify playing both.

Angers are believed to be keen on signing Kodjia, although no official approach has been made yet.

The 29-year-old has already played for the French club in the past, spending the 2014/15 season there.

A loan move is being mooted rather than a permanent one.

Kodjia arrived at Villa in 2016, following an impressive spell at fellow Championship club Bristol City.

He has gone on to score 24 times in 71 matches for the Villains, although his time at the club may be up.

Kodjia has also won 13 caps for the Ivory Coast, scoring an impressive seven times.
