The claret and blue side have struggled of late, winning just two of their last 11 matches.
Currently sat mid-table in the Championship, Villa boss Dean Smith wants to strengthen his squad ahead of a play-off push.
Smith’s side have struggled significantly to keep clean sheets this season, with the left-back and defensive midfielder areas being particularly weak.
There is a feeling around the club that if they genuinely hope to work their way up into the Championship play-off places before the season is over then they will have to make further additions to the squad within the next week.
Whether Villa will manage to get any deals over the line before the transfer window shuts remains to be seen.
