Steve Bruce is set to continue his raid on former club Aston Villa by bringing scout David Downes with him to Sheffield Wednesday.
Bruce will take charge of the Owls on February 1st, returning to management for the first time since his sacking at Villa Park last October.
The Birmingham Mail report that the 58-year-old will snap up the highly-rated Downes, taking him to Hillsborough as part of his backroom team.
He joins fellow former Villa pair Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence in leaving the club, with the duo joining Bruce as coaches.
Downes was thought of highly at Villa Park because of his expertise at scouting youth players.
A change in the recruitment process has occurred since Bruce was relieved of his duties, however, with Jesus Garcia Pitarch brought in as sporting director.
Downes is expected to have a similar role at Wednesday to the one with Villa, with funds potentially hard to come by and young players required.
