The January transfer window has come and gone and it was quite a busy final day for Aston Villa.
After a pretty mediocre season so far, Villa came into this transfer window knowing that they needed to get another goalkeeper, a couple of defenders and maybe a defensive midfielder if they are to stand any chance of finishing with a play-off place.
They managed to bring in a new goalkeeper, a couple of new defenders, as well as a midfielder (albeit it not a defensive one). They also managed to decrease their wage bill by loaning out a number of players.
Below is a complete rundown of the players that Villa have signed and those that have left this month.
Players in:
1) Lovre Kalinic signed from Gent for a reported fee of around €7 million on the 1st January.
2) Kourtney Hause signed on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season (with an option to buy) on the 8th January.
3) Tyrone Mings signed from Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season (with an option to buy) on the 31st January.
4) Frederic Guilbert signed from Caen for a fee of around €5 million on the 31st January. He will stay on loan at Caen until the end of the season.
5) Tom Carroll signed from Swansea on loan for the rest of the season (with an option to buy) on the 31st January.
Players out:
1) Ross McCormack signed for Motherwell on loan for the rest of the season on the 7th January.
2) Rushian Hepburn-Murphy was loaned out to Cambridge United until the end of the season on the 11th January.
3) Yannick Bolasie’s loan move was cancelled and he returned to Everton on the 21st January.
4) Andre Moreira’s loan move was also cancelled and he returned to Atletico Madrid on the 23rd January.
5) Callum O’Hare signed for Carlise on loan for the rest of the season on the 30th January.
6) Jake Doyle Hayes also signed for Cambridge United on loan until the end of the season on the 31st January.
7) Scott Hogan signed for Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season on the 31st January.
8) Jacob Bedeau was signed by Scunthorpe United for free on the 31st January.
9) Corey Blackett-Taylor was loaned out to Walsall until the end of the season on the 31st January.
10) James Bree signed for Ipswich Town on loan for the rest of the season on the 31st Janaury.
11) Harry McKirdy signed for Newport County on loan for the rest of the season on the 31st January.
