Aston Villa’s official site has announced that Swansea City midfielder Tom Carroll has joined the club on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy him in the summer added to the contract.
The 26-year-old, who graduated from Tottenham Hotspurs’ academy and made 56 appearances for their senior side, has only just returned to full training due to a hip and groin problem that has kept him out since the end of October.

It is safe to say that this was not the news that the majority of Villa fans were expecting the club to announce as it had been declared by a number of reputable sources less than an hour earlier that Leroy Fer would be signing from Swansea.
While he technically still could be joining, it is highly likely that the Dutch international will be staying in Wales until his contract expires in the summer.
Villa have been lacking creativity in their midfield ever since Jack Grealish got injured, so hopefully Carroll will provide that creative spark that has been missing.
