Tammy Abraham scored his 50th career league goal to open the scoring for the home side, before fellow loanee Tyrone Mings doubled Villa’s lead.
Amari Bell pulled one back for Blackburn, who threatened to dent Villa’s playoff push, but Smith’s side held on for their fifth consecutive victory.
