Aston Villa continued their push for a playoff spot with a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon, as Dean Smith’s side won their fifth consecutive league game.
Top scorer Tammy Abraham continued his fine form this season to open the scoring for the home side with his 22nd goal of the season, and the 50th of his career.
Villa looked settled following the striker’s eighth minute opener and Tyrone Mings doubled the home side’s lead on the hour mark, before Amari Bell gave Blackburn a route back into the game 15 minutes from time.
However, Smith’s side held on for victory to move up to fifth in the Championship, though Derby County and Bristol City below have games in hand.
Following the result we asked the Villa supporters to vote for their Man of the Match and despite a number of contenders given their strong performance, there was one standout winner in the eyes of the Villa fans.
