Patrick Bamford has been charged with ‘successful deception of a match official’ after a fracas that occurred during the game between Aston Villa and Leeds United on Sunday.
Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi was sent off at the time, as he was deemed to have struck Bamford. Aston Villa’s appeal against the red card has been successful and the ban has now been overturned.
In addition, Bamford has been found guilty of simulation and is facing a two-match ban.
Aston Villa’s Conor Hourihane has avoided a ban, even though he appeared to punch Mateusz Klich out of sight of the officials.

All of this happened in the 72nd minute of the game, as Leeds did not put the ball out of play with Jonathan Kodija down injured. The Yorkshire side played on and scored to go 1-0 ahead.
A melee then ensued and when the game got back underway five minutes later, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa told his players to let Aston Villa through on goal from kick-off to level the score.
Leeds and Aston Villa have also both been charged with a failure to control their players and each team will be fined.
Bamford has until 6pm on Wednesday to respond to his charge, while Leeds and Villa have until 6pm on Friday.
Each team could meet again in the Championship play-offs. They are both guaranteed a place, as Leeds have fallen away from the automatic promotion race and Villa’s great form has moved them up to 5th.
