Anwar El Ghazi’s red card against Leeds United has been rescinded by the FA, according to John Percy.
In what is a major boost to Aston Villa ahead of the Championship play-offs, no retrospective action will be taken against either El Ghazi or midfielder Conor Hourihane.
El Ghazi controversially saw red against Leeds United over the weekend after appearing to ‘strike’ Patrick Bamford, but replays show that no contact was in fact made.
The pair clashed in the aftermath of Leeds’ goal on Sunday, with the Villa players unhappy about the behaviour of the home side.
Leeds refused to kick the ball out of play, despite striker Jonathan Kodjia needing treatment further up the pitch.

After much confusion, the home side would let Villa equalise straight from kick-off and the game finished level.
Having El Ghazi available for the play-offs will be a huge boost for Dean Smith, with Villa looking to secure a return to the Premier League this time around.
