Aston Villa look set to sign Anwar El Ghazi on a free transfer this summer, according to L’Equipe.
The Dutchman has made 31 appearances for Dean Smith’s side this season, helping them into the Championship playoff reckoning.
He has scored five goals and registered six assists in that time.
The 23-year-old is on loan from Lille currently, but Villa are reportedly on the verge of making his temporary move a permanent one.
Lille are willing to let El Ghazi leave and Smith sees him as someone who can continue to thrive moving forward.
The winger was at the centre of controversy away to Leeds United on Sunday, having been sent-off after a melee involving the two sides, after the hosts’ controversial opening goal.
El Ghazi has since had his red card rescinded, however, after it emerged he had done little wrong, with Leeds striker Patrick Bamford charged with simulation.
That means he will now be available for the playoffs, which is a huge boost for Villa.
