Aston Villa are targeting Rangers defender James Tavernier as the club look towards a summer of change and right-back is one position they are looking to strengthen.
It’s safe to say that Villa’s current options in the position are ageing as Ahmed Elmohamaday and Alan Hutton are both approaching the latter stages of their careers, so the arrival of fresh legs would improve their current side.
According to an Aston Villa source, as cited on Football Insider, the former Premier League team are targeting the 27-year-old who has been impressive at the Scottish side this season.
Rangers will finish their season as runners up to Celtic but the right-back has enjoyed a great campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing 14 assists for Rangers this season.

His stats for his side are impressive and he has really made a significant impact on the team since joining in 2015 from Wigan.
Villa have the chance of gaining promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs when they face West Brom in the first leg of the semi-final this Saturday.
