Just one day after securing promotion to the Premier League, it has been made clear that Aston Villa are looking to sign Liverpool’s Ryan Kent. The 22-year-old winger is currently on loan at Scottish side Rangers.
Villa beat Frank Lampard’s Derby side 2-1 at Wembley in the play-off final and managed to reclaim their place in the Premier League after a three-year absence.
They have quickly shown interest in improving their side for the upcoming 2019/20 season, and an early summer signing could be beneficial to Dean Smith and the rest of his squad.
Kent’s contract for Liverpool has three more years on it, but according to Football Insider, as cited on Football League World, Liverpool have claimed they are willing to sell him and have valued him at £12 million after a successful season on loan; including six goals and nine assists.
Villa may have competition, however. It has also been made evident in the report that Rangers are in fact wanting to re-sign Kent after the impressive season he has had under ex-Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. Relegated sides Huddersfield Town and Fulham have also shown interest.
