According to recent reports by Spanish media outlet Marca, Aston Villa are interested in signing Ruben Alcaraz from Real Valladolid this summer.
The 28-year-old midfielder made 35 appearances for Valladolid this season and was one of the main reasons why they managed to avoid being relegated. Now it looks like there are a number of clubs who are interested in acquiring his services, with Spanish side Getafe also keen.

Glenn Whelan (35) and Mile Jedinak (34) have had decent seasons for Villa, but their contracts run out in the summer and it seems highly unlikely that the club will give them both new deals, given their ages.
Alcaraz is a versatile midfielder who is good on the ball and can pick a pass, so he is just the type of player that Dean Smith is looking for. It is believed that he will cost around £9 million, which could turn out to be a very good buy.
