After a whirlwind of a season and a tense couple of weeks in the Championship play-offs, Dean Smith’s Aston Villa succeeded in gaining promotion to the Premier League.
Now, according to reports from Football Insider, after many of their players who were important in their promotion journey were only on loan with them for the season, Villa are set to make some important summer signings.
Rangers’ 23-year-old James Tavernier is reportedly Villa’s main focus at the moment and their chances of securing the right-back are way more realistic now they are able to offer him the opportunity to play against some of the top clubs in the Premier League.
It is claimed that Smith’s side are readying an approach to sign the Rangers defender.
If Villa did secure Tavernier, he could have a real positive impact on the East Midlands side after he has proven himself as an extremely capable player at Rangers.
Tavernier is recognised for scoring penalties, and straight from free-kicks and set pieces, so could, therefore, fit in perfectly with the newly-promoted side.
