Aston Villa have seen a bid worth £8 million for Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge rejected, according to a report from Wales Online.
Having secured promotion back to the Premier League, it seems Dean Smith and his recruitment team are wasting no time in pursuing transfer targets ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
Etheridge was one of Cardiff’s standout players last season but was unable to help his side avoid the drop, as they were relegated to the Championship.
However, the goalkeeper could yet remain in the Premier League, with interest from Villa seemingly concrete.

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan is claimed by Wales Online to be reluctant to offload Etheridge given his performances between the sticks for the club last season.
Although, the allure of top-flight football could be tempting for the player. An offer in excess of £8 million will, however, need to be made by suitors such as Villa if he is to depart Wales.
Fulham, too, have shown an interest in Etheridge, as per the report. They are understood to have made a move worth around £10 million for the shot-stopper, but he is unenthused by the prospect of returning to Craven Cottage following his release in 2014.
