Aston Villa have confirmed the exit of striker Ross McCormack, following a hugely disappointing spell at the club.
The Scot has not made an appearance for Villa since September 2017, having originally signed for £12million with a big reputation from Fulham in 2016.
Loan spells were spent in Australia and Scotland this season, with Central Coast Mariners and Motherwell, respectively, but neither move took off.
Following Villa’s promotion to the Premier League ahead of next season, the club have released nine players.
McCormack is one of the more high-profile names to move on, bringing an end to his Villa Park nightmare.
A statement on the club’s website read:
Aston Villa can confirm Ross McCormack is to leave the club after signing a variation agreement.
The club would like to wish Ross well for the future.
The 32-year-old has called his time in the Midlands as “a bit of a shambles” and he will now look to kick on in career elsewhere.
McCormack ended up making a total of just 24 appearances for Villa, scoring a paltry three goals along the way.
