Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Jota from Birmingham City as part of a swap deal involving Gary Gardner.
The club have announced that Jota has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, keeping him at Villa Park until 2021.
Jota and Gardner have both signed permanent deals with Villa and Birmingham respectively as part of the deal, following the end of last season.
Gardner spent the 2018/19 season on loan to Birmingham from Villa, impressing in midfield, whilst Jota played alongside him.
The Spanish winger scored three times in the Championship for Birmingham but was able to register 11 assists in the league for the Blues.
He now becomes Villa’s first signing of the summer after the club’s promotion to the Premier League. Villa secured their place in England’s top-flight after beating Derby Count 2-1 at Wembley in the Championship play-off final last Monday.
