Aston Villa have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Southampton left-back Matt Targett for £14million, with the fee rising to £17million including add-ons.
The newly-promoted Premier League club seem to have beaten off interest from the likes of Leicester City and Newcastle United for Targett’s services to continue their summer spending.
According to The Telegraph’s Sam Wallace, Villa expect to transfer to go through this weekend for an initial £14m fee.

Targett made 16 Premier League appearances for the Saints last season and, aged just 23, still has plenty of room to develop his game and become a bigger asset.
Villa have already captured Club Brugge striker Wesley for £22million, as Dean Smith strengthens his options ahead of a tough, yet important, campaign.
It’ll be interesting to see where the club takes its business next, with a new goalkeeper, defender and midfielder seemingly on fans’ wish lists.
