Aston Villa boss Dean Smith reportedly flew out to Egypt in a bid to push through a proposed move for wide man Mahmoud Trezeguet, according to the BBC, cited by HITC.
The report suggests that Smith and Villa sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch were in Cairo for Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations clash against South Africa, keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old.

Unfortunately for Trezeguet, Egypt were knocked out of the competition, with the wide man not enjoying the best of games in front of his potential new boss.
The Kasimpasa winger is thought to be keen on a move away from the Turkish side this summer, with Villa hopeful of signing the player for £10 million.
Trezeguet has scored 25 times in the past two seasons and is seen as a perfect wide addition at Villa Park.
Fellow Premier League sides Watford and Everton are also keen on Trezeguet, however, with Smith and Pitarch present in Egypt, a move for the winger could well be sealed in the coming weeks.
