Aston Villa have ended in their interest in England international Jack Butland, according to Sky Sports News.
The Stoke City goalkeeper was rumoured to be a primary summer transfer target for Villa, bringing experience and quality between the sticks.
Stoke continue to be stubborn about their £25 million valuation of Butland, however, with Villa not willing to meet that fee.
The 26-year-old wants to leave the Championship club this summer in order to enhance his chances of starting regularly for England, but Villa won’t be his next club.
They do remain in the market for a new ‘keeper ahead of their return to the Premier League, but not in that price range.
Dean Smith will likely use of the rest of his transfer budget on other targets, meaning a hefty amount cannot be spent on a new stopper.
Butland could join Bournemouth instead, with the Cherries one of those linked with bringing him in.
