Villa followed up their 3-0 win against Minnesota United with a 1-0 win against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday afternoon.
Villa fans obviously would have wanted to see more than just the solitary goal, but Dean Smith will be reasonably pleased with a lot of what he saw.
For example, Frédéric Guilbert and Jota linked up extremely well down the right flank, Jack Grealish looked extremely sharp and Wesley Moraes showed good hold-up play and created a superb assist for Scott Hogan.
Next up for Smith’s men is a trip to the Bescot Stadium on Wednesday evening to take on Walsall.
These two teams play each other every year, but it has more of a meaning this time around as Smith used to manage the Saddlers before he moved to Brentford in 2015.
Smith was a very popular figure at Walsall and him and his team will receive a very warm welcome.
Here is how we reckon Villa will line up on Wednesday:
