Brighton are readying an offer to sign Rangers defender and Aston Villa target James Tavernier this summer.
According to a report from 90min, Villa will face competition from Graham Potter’s men, who have earmarked the Rangers star as a potential replacement for Bruno, who retired at the end of the season.
It is claimed that Villa and Newcastle are among the teams to enquire about a deal for the player after he enjoyed a brilliant season in Scotland under the management of Steven Gerrard.

It is certainly easy to see why Tavernier caught the eye with his Rangers performances, scoring 17 goals as well as registering an impressive 20 assists in all competitions.
Like Brighton, Villa need to strengthen in their full-back positions this summer and have already spent big to prepare for life back in the Premier League.
There is no indication at this stage about how much a potential deal for Tavernier could cost, but given that he is under contract until 2022, Rangers would be able to command a respectable fee.
