Aston Villa want to sign a goalkeeper before the transfer window slams shut, and according to a report from The Express and Star, Cardiff City man Neil Etheridge is a target.
The Bluebirds shot-stopper earned plaudits for his displays in the Premier League last season but was unable to help keep his side afloat as they were condemned to relegation back down to the Championship.
However, it seems Etheridge could yet have a chance of playing top-flight football in the upcoming campaign, with Villa sniffing around.

Dean Smith has added significant reinforcement to his first-team squad already this summer but has not yet recruited a new goalkeeper, with this likely to change before the start of the season.
The Express and Star reports that Etheridge remains a target, with no further progress made in Villa’s pursuits of other targets.
Stoke City are holding out for a huge fee worth £23 million for Jack Butland, while discussions between the club and Burnley for Tom Heaton have reached an impasse.
