Aston Villa look set to face competition from Derby County in the race to sign the highly rated Tom Bayliss from Coventry City.
The Rams are looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of the start of the Championship season next weekend, as they target another push for promotion to the Premier League following last season’s play-off final defeat to Villa.
And according to Football League World, via Football Insider, Derby and Villa look set to battle it out once again, this time however in the race to sign Bayliss.

Bayliss has impressed for Coventry since making his debut for the Sky Blues in the 2017/18 campaign, making 74 appearances in all competitions for the League One side.
Villa have had a busy summer thus far in the transfer market as Dean Smith prepares for life in the Premier League next season.
Tyrone Mings, Anwar El Ghazi and Kortney Hause have all completed a permanent move to Villa Park following their respective loans last season, while six more new faces have also been signed by Smith.
