Aston Villa missed out on the chance to sign midfielder Baptise Santamaria from French outfit Angers earlier this window, according to reports, with the club rejecting a €10million offer.
The report comes from RMC (via GFFN) who claim that the newly promoted Premier League club had made a concrete offer, tabling an opening bid for the 24-year old and including bonuses.
According to the report, the Villans were prepared to offer Santamaria four times more money than he is currently on in France’s Ligue 1, and they had been hoping to have him available for the first game of the season.
However, Angers were asking for more money and so Villa turned their attention toward Club Brugge’s Marvelous Nakamba, who they have now signed.
Despite the prospective move falling through, Santamaria is keen on leaving Angers this summer.
