Aston Villa have finalised the signing of Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz, after the player was granted a work permit to play in the Premier League.
The midfielder, who joined Villa from Manchester City, had previously been unable to get a work permit at City, meaning he was sent out on loan to Girona in Spain.

The player was granted a work permit, and has now flown to the UK to join his Villa teammates.
Luiz joined Villa last month, but was unable to play in pre-season due to his work permit issues. He will now be in the first team squad, and be available for selection for Villa’s opener against Tottenham Hotspur.

Villa fans can breath a big sigh of relief that they’ve not had any issues with securing a work permit for their Brazilian signing.
Hopefully, Luiz can now quickly get involved within the Villa setup, ahead of the opening game with Spurs.

Although it is very doubtful that he will be involved against Spurs, especially after being absent during pre-season.
However, he could easily be ready for Villa’s next game, if they’re ready to hand him a start early on during his career with Dean Smith’s side.
The midfielder has a lot to offer Villa, including excellent passing, superb defensive positioning, and is able to beat the press very well.
