Premier League football returned to Villa Park last weekend, but Villa fans will want to forget the first twelve minutes as quickly as possible.
There was an optimistic atmosphere inside Villa Park at kick-off, but this was wiped out within 40 seconds when Tom Heaton gave away a needless penalty with some amateurish play.
Things got a lot worse for the home side 11 minutes later when Douglas Luiz inexplicably dummied the ball without checking who was behind him and could only watch in horror as Harry Wilson’s deflected shot went in off the left-hand post.
Villa dominated the rest of the match but they just couldn’t find two goals to get their first Premier League point of the season.
Next up for Dean Smith’s men is a home game against Everton on Friday evening and they will need to cut out all amateurish errors if they are to pick up any points.
