Aston Villa recorded their first win of the new season on Friday night as they beat Everton 2-0.
In front of a packed Villa Park, the home side rode their luck at times, but some excellent performances and some pieces of genuine quality were more than enough to beat Marco Silva’s men.
Whilst there were plenty of players who performed well for Villa, one man was rightly recognised as being the best player on the pitch, and that was John McGinn.
Pundit Chris Sutton was impressed enough to tweet about the Villa midfielder and there were a lot of people who agreed with him.

There’s something special about Aston Villa playing at home under the lights in the Premier League and on Friday night, John McGinn shone under said lights. The midfielder was outstanding as was a driving force as the Villans got their first win of the season.
He made a huge impact in the Championship and it looks like McGinn could do the same in the top tier.
