Aston Villa got their first points on the board thanks to a 2-0 win over Everton at Villa Park.
The Toffees got off to a bright start, but they were met by a resolute Villa defence that was defending as if their lives were on the line.
Villa weather the early storm and took the lead in the 21st minute when Wesley Moraes latched on to a defence-splitting ball from the impressive Jota and calmly slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.
Everton had two great chances to score in the second half, but Moise Kean’s effort hit the woodwork and Theo Walcott blazed over from just six yards out.
Dean Smith’s men added some gloss to the scoreline when Anwar El Ghazi collected John McGinn’s pass in the 95th minuted and made no mistake with the finish.
We have now created a duel (in the style of winner stays on) so you can vote for your Villa player of the match.
